Universal Forming is a concrete structure subcontractor, specializing in multi-story, cast in place structures.

UFI is currently constructing Mayo Clinic’s state-of-the-art Integrated Oncology Building (IOB) located on their Jacksonville campus. The IOB is a 3 story, 140,000 sf facility that will house three linear accelerators, two proton therapy gantries, one fixed-beam room for carbon therapy FDA trials, one proton carbon synchrotron housing room and 4 lifts of shearwalls.
The IOB contains six entry maze wall formations of varying thicknesses and elevations, an elevated perimeter shielding wall shell 3’-4” thick and nearly 17’ tall, 7’-6” thick proton gantry walls and a 13’- 1 ½” wall behind the fixed-beam room. Elevated, monolithic slab pours for the linear accelerator had thicknesses ranging from 8’-6” to 4’-6”, and the shielding roofs for the proton gantries are nearly 40’ above the slab below and 5’-6” thick.
UFI also recently completed 5 lifts of shearwalls for the Mayo Clinic’s bed tower expansion over two weeks ahead of schedule. The project adds 428 patient beds and 250,000 sf to the existing structure, taking it from 8 stories to 13 stories.
