The new Sarasota Memorial Hospital – Venice Campus is the largest addition to the Sarasota Memorial Health Care System in nearly 100 years. UFI was contracted for design assist and full turnkey services on the project. During the design assist portion, UFI worked with the team to revise the planned 10-12” flat slab with drop heads structure to a 5” slab with 16” beams moment frame. This change saved the project approximately 8% of the original estimated structure value, without compromising structural integrity.

The five-story new hospital included 360,000 sf of elevated pan decks and utilized a flying truss system to achieve the project’s aggressive schedule.
