The Shands Guest House was built by University of Florida Health to meet the need for convenient, high-quality lodging accommodations for visiting outpatients and relatives of hospitalized patients.
The seven-story, 140,000 sf Guest House features 10” thick mild reinforced slabs. The building has a serpentine plan layout that includes a significant amount of exposed architectural concrete, including cedar plank formed walls at the ground level. Utilizing a robotic Total Station for layout, UFI was able install the radial walls and slabs edges with extreme precision.
