The USF Morsani College of Medicine was the first of 12 buildings to be constructed as part of the Water Street District Master Plan for downtown Tampa.
The 15-story, 390,000 sf classroom building included a ballroom on Level Two which required four massive 72”x144” transfer girders to span 80’ over the top of it. UFI utilized Aluma Frame scaffolding up through Level Three to accommodate high areas ranging from 30’ to 50’ tall. We then built Aluma truss tables for the remaining 12 levels, which were typically 13’ tall. This project had multiple sloping columns and battered beam sides to achieve the architect’s vision on the façade. The elevated slabs were pan formed, and this structure was completed in 52 weeks.
